Friday

Be extremely intentional today about doing a "complete shutdown" at the end of the day so you can fully recharge this weekend. If you have a pre-vacation shutdown routine, do that.

If not, here are some ideas:

Look at your calendar, inbox, and master task list. Select the major things you want to tackle on Monday morning and prioritize them.

At the end of the day, declare your “shutdown complete” and try not to look at work items all weekend. Try to fully recharge and occupy your mind with other things - family, sports, being outdoors - so you can come in on Monday morning and crush it.

Today, you will likely have several moments with members of your team in the hall, in between meetings, etc.

Instead of making small talk, use the time to really connect with the person. Ideas include: asking about a challenging work issue they care about or asking a question about something you know they’re interested in.

Make sure you also consider any developmental goals you've set.
